GIVING BACK
My name is Robert Lewis. I’m the second of four kids and from a small town in South Carolina. I am a professional coach in which my skill set has afforded me the opportunity to travel all over the world for over eight years. During that time, I was very fortunate to meet individuals from many different races and cultural backgrounds. While talking to all of these different people, I was able to learn so much about their diverse backgrounds, their struggles and more. It was so amazing and a huge eye opener on racism and the effects that it has not just here in the states but all over the world. I found out that even though we are from so many different places around the globe, we are all still the same people. In each of the races I encountered, each of the people I spoke to reminded me of someone in my own circle of races.
I’ve been happily married to my wife, Patricia Lewis for over 21 years. We are foster parents and have recently adopted a son. We’ve always had a heart for children and housing kids that are in need of love, support and care came naturally for us. Recently, we volunteered to help give out school supplies and next summer we will travel to seven different countries to give out love, knowledge, support, school supplies, water, food and any other assistance they will need from us. Our travel will include visiting countries – The inter cities of America, Albania, Ghana, Senegal, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Ethiopia, Mexico.
I am happy to mention that I have launched our apparel brand and online store, F.R.E.E. - Fighting Racism Equals Equality (www.FREEApparelStore.com). F.R.E.E. will be used as a resource driven tool that will empower and encourage people and communities (especially low-income), to disprove the negative stereotypes placed upon them by society. Focus will be placed on the importance of educating or re-educating people on ways to overcome negative life circumstances, therefore, propelling themselves towards living a more fulfilled and purpose life. Additionally, 10-20% of each apparel purchase will be donated back to the Anti-Defamation League (www.adl.org ), a non-profit organization that works to stop the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. The organization notes that it understands that the fight against one form of prejudice cannot succeed without battling prejudice in all forms. We are happy to partner with such an awesome organization that shares in the fighting racism to equal equality.
